Damien Cogill

Legal Practitioner Director

Damien Cogill

I was admitted to practice in 1994 after six years of working full time as an articled clerk in my hometown, Toowoomba, and studying externally at the Queensland University of Technology.  These years gave me much practical insight into the law, the Courts and a strong regional legal profession.

In 1995, I travelled to the United Kingdom, primarily to play cricket but also working in two law firms.  In one firm I worked primarily as an in house investigator for insurance companies travelling around investigating accidents and claims.  In the other firm I worked in commercial litigation, including in the Rugby League v Super League litigation in England.

On returning to Australia, the lure of the Sunshine Coast took me to Pomona and Cooroy for 12 years.  The work I undertook was varied and interesting and included acting for a petroleum distributor who acquired and established many regional service stations and distributorships around Queensland and Australia.

I commenced my own practice in 2008 literally from my kitchen table.  I joined forces with Lindsay Woods in 2009.

These days, I practice in the areas of property law (commercial and residential), business and leasing, wills and estates and commercial law.  I have significant experience in all these areas.

Last year I proudly received my 25 year service medal from the Queensland Law Society.

I am married to the wonderful Cherise and we have three daughters who have been schooled and have grown up in our local community.

I have been lucky enough to have been involved in the Noosa Dolphins Rugby Club since 1997, playing in 11 or so grand finals in A and reserve grades and (finally) retiring at age 42.  I have been involved there on the committee, as a sponsor and as a coach, proudly coaching our women’s team to a premiership in 2019.

As a family, we have been involved with Noosa nippers, Coolum netball and Sunshine Coast water polo for many years in different roles.

I am the honorary solicitor for Katie Rose Cottage, Pomona Bowls Club, Noosa Tewantin Bowls Club and Noosa Rugby Union Club.

When I get time, I don’t mind the occasional surf or fish at Teewah Beach.
